Moor Farm has been owned by the Stephens family since 1949. It was bought by
Des (deceased) and Rene Stephens who is still a partner in the farm, although retired. Paul, their son and his wife Roz, now run the farm
and live there with their daughter Katie.
Like most
farms, over the years, amalgamations have gone on and Moor Farm now comprises
four farms. They are run in conjunction with Fosters Wold Farm, totalling 883 acres, mostly in a 'ring fence'. Crops grown
are Wheat, Malting Barley, Oilseed Rape and some land is rented out for
Potatoes. The other major enterprise is a Broiler Chicken unit.
The horse
enterprise was started recently at the beginning of 2004 and is run by Katie
with help from her mum and a part time stable girl. There are two separate
yards. One at Moor Farm comprising 7 large
stables with several paddocks, and the other at Fosters Wold, which has 12 large stables
and 6 acres of paddocks in a beautiful setting surrounded by a shelter belt. Moor Farm is
generally kept for Katie's own horses and those that need schooling as the
arena is there. Fosters Wold is open to DIY and full livery and has ample
hacking routes, both on and off road. The arena is available for hire by
appointment.
